There are so many oriental / Asian vintage lamps on the market, but this one is a little more special. Not the classic ginger jar style lamp either. It is made out of porcelain, quite thick porcelain and is hand painted. It is likely from the Early 20th century. It appears to have Japanese influence rather than Chinese/Mandarin. Lovely depiction of two ladies on the front, with writing on the back. Brass lid at the top. There are production 'issues' with it too, making it wonderfully authentic eg. speckles of paint in odd places. There is also some minor and not noticeable damage - a small chip under the brass lip in one place and a fine crack in another.
It has 1970s wiring and some of which is exposed near the plug. The lamp is sold as working but it is advised to check the wiring and update the plug and exposed wires as a minimum. It has not been professionally tested.
This is a super different authentic vintage lamp in Japanese style. I love it. I think it would look smashing with a wonderful bell or Empire shape shade on it - plenty of vintage style ones to choose from, or could even go with something more contemporary like a drum shape. Could be a real talking point in your home.
