An ornately decorated tall vase, likely from the early 1900s. Very regal in its appearance. Would likely look completely at home on a mantelpiece or standing on a tall corner table -on a vintage windowsill. It is in very good vintage condition for a piece that is over 100yrs old. No chips or cracks.
Stamped underside, SALE Made in England. SALE near Manchester was a ceramic pottery producing area in the 1800s and into the 1900s. Lots of smaller potteries setup in the area, this piece is likely from one of them as there is no other label denoting a larger pottery manufacturer, Having said this, the quality of the work of this pottery is still exemplary. You can see gorgeous details in the transferred print, and of course the lovely hand painted gilt finish to complete this pretty piece.
The finish is slightly rougher than the more shining glazed ceramics we have become used too - this enables your attention to be drawn to the painted decoration. It is a lovely two handled vase or ornament. Would have stood pride of place in someone's home back in the day.
Great condition as I say - there is a piece of paper or something rattling inside which I have not been able to remove - just to be aware. Minor markings from production and tine blips in the transfer print. Some gilt has rubbed away in places. All in all though, a lovely antique ready for display again - in muted peachy cream tones. Please see photos and video.
