An ancient engraving of a Burgundian Battle of Morat (I think between French and German armies). Lots of information online about it. Battle was in 1476 and this engraving was completed in 1610 by Martin Martini who was copying one from the 15th century. There are lots of keys and info on the print in different languages about the Battle. Informative for those interested in historic battlefare. The print itself dates from early 1900s - it was printed by SADAG in Geneva who used this label (see bottom right of battle pic) until around 1940s.
This is an old print, likely from a newspaper or magazine or album - there are creases in it from folding. It is also on lovely old tea stain coloured rough paper showing its age. Likely printed as part of a collection of similar engravings. Wonderfully framed in a gilt wooden frame, ready for hanging - frame has a hand done string and hook set up along the top. Back has been repapered at some point. Frame is definitely vintage but I cannot say it is the same age as the print.
Wonderful Battle picture for someone from the Burgundy area or someone interested in militaria.
Size : approx 52.5cm x 30cm frame
