This is a small and delightful wooden table, originating in around the 1950s, maybe 1960s. It is hand carved with lovely delicate leaf motifs, and also has a secret storage compartment! A beautifully understated piece from the mid-20th century, this table blends functionality with artistic style.
It has a mahogany like grain to it, but the wood is not mahogany I don't think. It is a hard wood though and is rich in colour. The legs are simple scandi influenced style, but the top has the delicate carving on it. And of course don't forget the secret drawer - lift up the top and see! Great for secrets.
This table was originally part of a nest of three tables - it was the largest of the three. All had secret compartments! This is why it doesn't have a stretcher on on the one side. Still perfectly sound and sturdy, display with or without the stretching facing the room.
Perfect as a plant stand, small occasional table, somewhere for a lamp, mug of coffee, the remote controls etc etc. Very handy and because it is not too big it will seamless fit into most homes and rooms!
Condition is as you would expect. Signs of use and age, but all commensurate. Very good vintage condition. See photos, underside has piece of wood with join in it. Nothing untoward.
