Frederick Mackenzie (circa 1788–1854) and John Le Keux (1783–1846) were prominent 19th-century British artists renowned for their architectural illustrations, particularly of esteemed academic institutions. Their collaborative works are highly regarded for their precision and artistic merit. These prints are both of Corpus Christi College, University of Cambridge. Original engravings which were then hand coloured, and then reproduced in print form. Original engravings published in 1835, These prints are likely the late 1800s, and have been framed in the mid 1900s. Classically vintage with their signs of age, but still wonderful reflections of the College.
Could be wonderful gift for someone with connections to Corpus Christi and/or Cambridge. They are in light green paper mounts, and then in white painted wooden frames. The frames have wire for hanging, but one is loose. The backs are a thick hardboard which are also a little loose but these can be easily fixed. The white painted finish is worn, may brighten with a good clean, could be repainted of course, or left as is - white grey streaked combo.
One print is titled “Corpus Christi College”, and the other “The Quadrangle of Corpus Christi College”.
Size approx. 26cm x 27cm frame
