Compact Vintage Classic 70s Yew Wood Knee Hole Desk 8 Drawers
This is a beautiful example of mid-century craftsmanship, popular in the 1970s. Yew Wood: Yew is a hardwood known for its rich, warm tones and distinctive grain patterns. The wood has striking grain details, adding elegance to the desk. The actual carcas is made of thick manmade wood with a yew wood veneer.
The "knee hole" design refers to the open space beneath the desktop, where the user sits. This was a practical feature in vintage desks, providing ample legroom and a comfortable working area. It's likely framed by drawers on either side.
These desks often came with multiple drawers on either side usually 4 on each side). The drawers vary in size.
This piece would reflect the reproduction style of the 1970s, which often merged traditional craftsmanship with modern functionality. The yew wood finish and classic structure would give it a timeless and vintage look.
Unusually there is a small but very useful cupboard, this has lost the key so you may well want to add a handle.
The drawers are all clean and run well with lovely drop handles.
There are marks to the leatherette top, but I would consider the condition, commensurate with other similar desks very good/
The wood is well preserved, There are some minor areas where wood filler is evident.
To the back of the top the finish was very worn, I have added some oil to freshen it up a little but it remains a little marked.
It is a very attractive desk, on the whole in very good condition, so please take a good look at all of the images and utilise the zoom in facility to check the condition.
