Christmas Shopping by Edward Penfield c1890/1920, Art Nouveau painting for Harpers, print in outstanding wooden vintage detailed frame

Edward Penfield was an American illustrator famous for posters. He cornered the American market at the turn of the 1800/1900 century. His posters were bold, catchy and colourful. This particular painting was completed for Harpers Magazine and is titled Christmas Shopping - obviously a December edition. It is charming. An attractive, clearly wealthy woman undertaking shopping in the colder states of the USA, presumably New York or Boston. The print is signed by Penfield. This print is delightfully framed in a vintage frame with painted gilt floral detail around the edge - softening the wooden frame as such. The gilt flowers are picked up in a gilt inlaid edge. The frame is glazed and the print is mounted in a coffee coloured card mount. The frame has minor signs of wear, commensurate with age and storage. Nothing that won't oil or stain out if they bother you. The frame has mirror plates on it for affixing. The print is in great condition slightly wavy in places but likely to flatten out over time. Glass intact. Wonderful bright art nouveau print in a gorgeous frame. Ready to go on your wall!
