Charming Large Vintage Painted Shabby Chic Walnut Mirror Carved Bird Motif.
This is a very unusual mirror in that it has, to either top corner of the glass, two carved settings each with a hand carved bird. This is a very charming feature.
Originally the mirror was from a grand dressing table and the holes to the side where the tilting axis mechanism was, have been filled.
I have applied two coats of primer and three topcoats of Farrow and Ball Wimborne White estate eggshell, this has a soft sheen and is an extremely light cream.
I have wire woolled the edges, so the dark of the original finish shows through and leaves a mild shabby chic distressed finish.
As with anything and painted do expect brush marks and minor imperfections, however, if you check the images, you will see the condition is very good.
The original glass is thick and bevelled. It has imperfections which may put you off or you may feel it adds to the vintage charm. There are some black spots to the top right centre and a very slight almost brushed yellowing to the silver behind the glass. The reflection is very good and I have tried to show the imperfections in the images, they really are just par for the course in an old mirror glass.
This is a top quality high end product and even has a solid wood backing, a couple of splits.
There are two new mirror plates for attaching to the wall.
