Bird of Paradise / Chakora Vintage Collage, Needlepoint and Mixed Media Picture - stunning craft work - in vintage gold frame 58cm x 71cm

I am not 100% certain of the origins of this wonderful bold, beautiful collage / mixed media picture. It clearly shows a bird in flight, which looks like a bird of paradise, or a mythical creature from Asian or Indian culture. A sign of wealth, freedom, beauty and romance. Wonderfully crafted in a combination of materials, beads, sequins, thread - quite gorgeous and so rich in its detail and colour. Finished off in a large, heavy, gold vintage frame.

The actual craft is finished on a blue material and then pinned onto a heavy board, which in turn is fitted into the frame. It is altogether a very striking piece with no doubt great symbolism. I wish I knew more about it. It is in very good vintage condition, although the odd sequin or bead is missing - please see photos. Whilst looking close up and intently focusing on it, you notice these missing bits, they are not so noticeable when someone first glances at the artwork. There is some minor marking on the blue background material. The frame is vintage, great quality and painted gold wood, it has marks, chips out of it - making it very authentic of course! A great frame for such a lovely piece of art.

I would suspect this artwork would make a great gift to someone - perhaps as a wedding present, or anniversary gift. Maybe a new home gift? Or perhaps you are looking for something exotic for your home - something bold and beautiful - well this is it! Striking it is.
