Benares Vintage Table - early to mid 20th century Benares Indian brass topped small table, plant stand 40cm h, 38cm w

A wonderful small coffee or end table, plant stand, lamp stand table, with the intricately engraved brass top of a Benares table. Sits atop carved wooden frame. A small table so perfect for fitting into a smaller corner or next to a sofa or chair. Great to have the brass top for anything which might cause water marls - and ages so well! Great little table, and being early to mid century, one of the earlier examples brought to the West.

This table measures 40cm in height and 38cm diameter. It is quite sturdy, but bear in mind it is vintage. The wooden frame has lovely early 20th century styling to it. It has been stained or varnished at some point, you can see the bare wood underside. The stain is wearing off in places and the wood is marked - all very vintage and charming, but not pristine.

The brass top is wonderful. The craftsmanship in it is superb. I note a few signs of age and marking on the top including one small dent. There is also some age colouring on the brass - including some white which might be polish residue from an over enthusiastic owner in years gone by.

An absolute gem of a table for plants, lamps, coffee mugs, books etc. Really interesting table - certainly beats a flat pack ensemble from a homeware store.
