Beautiful Hand Stripped Restored Vintage Edwardian Coal Scuttle Coal Box Wood and Brass Inner Lining. Walnut or Mahogany.
A very pretty early 20th century coal scuttle.
I think it is made of mahogany or walnut.
The original dark finish has been removed and this has left the original light wood which has been polished with a natural wax. You can see about 6 inches up and 3 inches in to the lid up front there is a black mark, this is a minor dent the significance of which is that when this was stripped, the stripper did not manage to get in the little divot and you can see the original darkness of the finish.
Original knob and a wonderful arched handle although the hinges are replacements.
It still boasts the original lighting which is still in very good order with no sign of corrosion.
This has two handles and lifts in and out relatively easily.
As you can see in the images, this is in exceptionally good condition and someone has spent a lot of time and effort getting this up to this wonderful restored condition.
So please make sure you take a good look at all of the images and utilise the zoom in facility to check the condition.
