Beautiful Art Deco Part Stripped Wall Mirror Age Worn Charm. Gold and Blue.
This was very sorry looking when I bought this, the deco decoration was painted in a black gloss. I have hand stripped it. I was going to strip it down to the wood but found underneath a mishmash of blue and gilt and so I left it with just the black removed because I think it looks fantastic and shows the history of the mirror. To the bottom stretch you can actually see some of the word on the top length of the three.
It is quite evident in the images that the edges of the glass have deteriorated especially to the bottom right on the bottom left. This would have been caused by damp.
However the glass is intact with no evidence of chips and it is a thick bevelled quality glass. Most of the glass outside the bevelled area is in good condition with just a few minor spots of blacking, so please make sure you take a good look at all of the images and utilise the zoom in facility to check the condition.
So there you have it, this is very much a rustic mirror, very much far from perfect, but you cannot take away from it the fact that it is absolutely charming and in many ways it is the deterioration on the general wear that adds to the charm of the pace. Definitely both shabby and chic.
The mirror is secured to the thick wooden backing with metal clasps and is therefore very secure.
There are eyelets and string to the back for wall attachment.
