This is an outstanding and truly original vintage oval wall mirror, dating from the 1950s or 1960s.
The mirror features a solid wood frame, which has been covered in a composite or gesso moulding. This was then finished with a red undercoat and a gold topcoat, creating a crackle-glazed effect.
One of its most distinctive features is the pierced frame design, with regularly spaced holes that give it a unique and eye-catching appearance. Over time, areas of the gold finish have been gently worn down, exposing the rich red undercoat beneath. This aged effect appears to have been intentionally enhanced, creating a beautifully uniform distressed look that adds to its vintage charm.
The thick original beveled mirror is in excellent condition, with only a few tiny marks visible upon close inspection.
