A magnificent and truly characterful antique wrought iron fire grate, bursting with traditional gothic charm and timeworn authenticity. This is a heavy, solidly constructed piece with generous proportions, designed to sit confidently within a fireplace or hearth space. It features four boldly twisted uprights topped with classic fleur-de-lis finials, giving it a striking vertical presence. Each corner is beautifully forged, and the front and rear bars are finished with decorative iron scrollwork, adding both strength and ornate detail. The twisted ironwork continues through the frame, creating depth and movement from every angle.
I would date this from approximately 1900.

The finish is naturally aged, with widespread surface rust and layers of dark patina developed over decades of use. It has not been repainted or restored, so you can enjoy its authentic, untouched appeal.

Perfect as a working log basket, a period fireplace insert, or even as a decorative garden planter or display piece in a rustic setting. This is genuine antique salvage; unapologetically weathered, full of history, and ready for another chapter in a new home with taste for the well-aged and proudly imperfect.

This product will be delivered by hand by a proper furniture courier.
Delivery is free to mainland England and Wales only.
There will be a cost anywhere else so please, contact us for a quote.
This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
