This antique hand-coloured engraving depicts the historic town of Winchelsea, Sussex, one of England’s famous Cinque Ports, with its medieval gates and sweeping views towards the coast. The scene shows a pair of well-dressed figures walking along a fenced road leading towards the fortified stone archway of the town, framed by trees and sloping banks. Dating from around the early 19th century (c.1820–1830), this is an original period print, not a modern reproduction.
