An exceptional, top quality office lamp in French Empire, Bouilotte style. 3 armed heavy brass lamp sitting atop a black ebony like base, and decorative brass base, including lion paw feet. Three mock candlestick light fitments, Lamp shade stem and brass finial, all intact and in vgc. Working. Sold with a newer vintage suedette mock toile shade in cream.
The lamp exudes luxury and craftsmanship. It does have age related wear, but absolutely nothing to be concerned about. It has a gorgeous authentic antique look and feel to it. I believe this lamp to date to the early part of the 1900s, but it has had wiring probably updated in around 1970s. When I've done research, some of these lamps are said to actually come from the continent, but I am not sure if it is indeed French or made in French style. Either way it is an absolute quality lamp.
The vintage shade is newer - probably 1990s. Made for the lamp as it is perfect size and it is in toile style, which these lamps would have had. It is in good condition too and can easily continue to be used or you may want to change it. The thin metal finish has some scratching, and the suedette has a few marks too it - one from where it seemingly has been stored against something - the shade can be manouevered to hide any flaw. The shade does complement the lamp very nicely even if it isn't exactly what you are after.
