This antique Edwardian wall mirror dates from the early 1900s and features its original bevelled glass set within a solid wood frame of rich, warm tone - looks like solid oak. The frame has a simple yet elegant mitered edge design, showing fine grain patterns and a period-appropriate hand finish. The back retains its original wooden panel construction and has a very old, possibly original, hanging cord, adding authenticity and rustic charm.
With gentle signs of age including light surface marks and a time-softened patina, this piece exudes the character of over a century’s use. Bottom left corner mitre is slightly ajar but has no impact on the mirror rigidity at all. Glass is slightly loose in the frame, but likewaise is only noticeable if you intentionally hold the mirror and jiggle it around. A few small scratches and occasional mark on the glass from age and wear. Obviously has marks of age and wear for a mirror of antique age.
Likely of British origin, it would have graced a hallway, bedroom, or parlour in a country or everyday house setting. Not ornate or elegant in an old fashioned sense. Straightforward, simple, geomteric.
