A charmingly rustic Victorian rural scene of a farm trailer in a field with autumnal trees. It comes in a vintage frame and hand-lined mount.
It says David Cox, the well known British landscape painter, on the mount and the back of the painting and back board, along with the title 'The Evening on the Farm'. There are also the date's 1825 and 1827. However, I removed the painting and cannot see any visible signature.
Gilt wood frame, thick card mount, glazed with hard board back. It has a hanging solution.
It is in fair-good condition, the painting has a dirty patina and some damage on the border but this part is normally covered by the mount. The frame has some scratch marks and chips, the mount is a little dirty and the coloured inner border has faded.
