A delightful vintage embossed copper and wood fire surround or fender panel, likely dating from the early 20th century, possibly Edwardian or Arts and Crafts in style.
The surface is decoratively embossed with stylised foliate scrolls, shields, and possibly heraldic motifs, which were typical of early 1900s design. It features a hammered finish with repoussé-style floral and scrollwork embellishments that add both texture and visual depth.
Mounted on a timber frame visible from the rear, the piece is crafted from embossed copper aged to a richly oxidised patina with deep brown and verdigris tones.
It remains in solid, intact condition, with wear consistent with its age and use. The surface shows varied dark and greenish oxidation, which many collectors find desirable as it speaks to the piece’s authenticity. The embossing is still sharp and well-defined, with intentional hammering marks adding to its character. There is some very minor separation at a few seams where the copper meets the wood, but overall, the structural integrity is very good.
