This beautiful antique oak side table is a striking example of early 20th-century English Arts & Crafts furniture design. Crafted in solid oak, it features a rich warm patina, a rectangular top with visible grain, and a decorative trestle-style base with shaped supports.
I believe this table dates from the Edwardian to 1920s era, this table embodies the Arts & Crafts movement’s emphasis on honest craftsmanship, simple lines, and sturdy construction. The hand-carved base adds character and individuality, making it as much a piece of decorative art as a functional table.
This versatile piece would work perfectly as a small bedroom table, lamp table, plant stand, or occasional side table in a living room. Its compact size makes it easy to place in both modern and traditional interiors, while the timeless oak finish ensures it blends seamlessly with rustic, farmhouse, cottagecore, or heritage-style décor.
Despite its age, the table is in very good antique condition. It needs the carved dowel like pieces pushed in hard to keep it sturdy. It was once covered with a varnish which has worn away in places giving the dark oak colour a mixed patina across the table. The table could be sanded right back to the original wood colour and then oiled or left rustic, or can be left as is. As is, it tells a story of past preferences and historic furniture styles. The table does have signs of wear and whilst it has been cleaned and stained, it still has oodles of rustic charm.
