This classic Victorian travel trunk features the iconic design that was highly popular in its time, with countless examples still cherished today. However, what sets this piece apart is its size, significantly larger than the typical trunks of its kind. Having handled many of these, I can confidently say this is one of the largest I've seen.
The trunk retains its original brass decorative locking mechanism, though, as is common, it is no longer functional. What truly stands out is the unique wear pattern on the top surface, which has lightened over time, contrasting beautifully with the original darker paint visible on the sides, front, and back. This effect adds a fantastic shabby chic charm, suggesting it may have been used as a coffee table in its past life.
Unlike many similar trunks, the top surface remains flat, a rare feature, as these trunks were often subjected to heavy use, resulting in sagging tops. While there are some dents underneath (visible in the photos), they do not affect its usability or overall aesthetic. You maybe able t knock them out.
The trunk is clean, retains its original inner paint, and both handles are fully functional, making it a versatile piece. With bags of character, it can serve as stylish storage, a coffee table, or even a side table.

This will cost us between £60-80 so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
