For Opera lovers this is a wonderful piece of collectible memorabilia. A 1977 poster of Dame Kiri Te Kanawa (before she was a Dame) performing in Arabella (Richard Strauss) at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. Hard to find, very rare, poster in shades of black white and reds. In delightful original gold metal retro frame. A smashing find!
The poster is in fine form, it may be slightly discoloured from light exposure and age, although it may not be as the original tones are very red, black and white. Besides the colouring it is in great shape and is in a very fitting gold metal retro frame - likely the original. The frame ha a few small scratches and knocks commensurate with age and moving around.
The performance by Kanawa in Arabella as Zdenko was widely acclaimed and whilst it is not as frequently performed as other Operas, the performance in 1977 was a high profile one, and conducted by George Solti. Her role in Arabella suited her voice, and she was lauded for an artistic and dramatic performance helping to propel her to soprano stardom.
