1970s Ceramic Green Floral Ginger Jar Style Lamp - made for BHS - working order.

The lovely BHS, British Home Store, which is sadly no longer with us, produced some fine home furnishings and decorative items. This lovely ceramic lamp is one of those. A glazed green ceramic lamp in a lovely light mint green, covered in floral transfers and oriental design patterns. It is definitely in oriental style, shaped like a ginger jar. Lovely working order 1970s ceramic lamp.

ORiental style lamps are attractive and this one is no exception. Its shape is classic and the decorative detail is very much like original oriental floral design. So it is very much an early example of British stores and designers harking after oriental influence and making products available to British homes in the 1970s.

Would be a lovely lamp for a bedroom, living room or hallway. The colour is somewhat unusual so perfect if you are looking to complement an already green decor or something with a green accent. Very pretty and charming lamp.

BHS is referenced on the plastic fitment at the top. The lamp has 2 core wiring which helps me date it to the 70s, and it had the original plug, but I have replaced that with a new one. The conditon of the lamp is very good. No chips or cracks. There are some fine crazing marks in the glaze in some places, but nothing major. The transfer decoration is in good order throughout. The wiring as I say looks original and is stained yellow, and the fitment at the top is a little loose . Sold as working, but not professionally tested.
