It is always heartwarming to find original artwork which must have meant something to the painter, or the intended recipient. This is just one of those paintings - painted in 1934 by G.F.H. Baker, Signed and referencing it is a original watercolour of Dunster Church.
It is endearing and I actually think it is quite good. It shows a classic depiction and view of Dunster Church, but it is painted in 1934, so the road is untarred and there is very little else around the church. I am sure the same scene today would look quite different.
For anyone who comes from or who knows Dunster this is a super piece of history.
The frame is solid - it is a 1930s wooden frame; it is glazed. I think Baker was a novice framer too - the frame has a mount which is of its age, home designed and made. The frame also has a gold shabby finish, suggesting someone at some time wanted to alter the look of the frame.
The frame is in good condition and ready to hang. The mount has a few marks on it, as does the watercolour.
For a 1930s original artwork, this is in super vintage condition and is charming.
