Delightful vintage vanity suitcase / dressing case. Likely early to mid 1900s. Lovely little case which would have been used for make up, grooming products, scarves, trinkets, etc. The inside shows where bottles of lotions and potions would have been stored, and the original mirror remains too. Likely used by those on the move either for work or pleasure eg. actors, travellers, etc. Still very sturdy and stills locks. Could be used for original purpose or as a prop or set piece, child's suitcase even etc. I think it has original leather covering.
Yes the photos show the wear and tear and use on the inside. Clearly very much used and loved - likely by a C A Herrington from Portsmouth as her name is handwritten in the inside. How charming and intriguing. Wonder who she was and what she did? Someone clever could probably replace or cover the lining. The mirror is aged too but is still usable and is actually quite 'dated' and authentic.
The main body of the case is still very sound, yes there is wear - latches are tarnished and one corner has been burnt (how did that happen?), other marks commensurate with age; but there are no major dents or holes. It is solid and sound including the handle. Can most definitely still be used for its intended purpose of transportable storage or indeed a case of many guises.
