Such a lovely piece of nostalgia. A certificate awarded to Sydney Collier in 1924 awarding him membership of the Meccano Guild and bestowing on him, all the privileges of membership. Displayed in a very attractive wooden 1920s original glazed frame. All in superb condition.
I don’t believe the frame was originally meant for this certificate. More likely it was repurposed when Sydney was awarded this honour! There is no proper mount and it isn’t flush in the frame. But they are both from the same era and it does seem befitting that this very special piece of memorabilia is in such a lovely frame.
The certificate is in excellent condition as is the frame. The frame has got signs of age on the corners and a few elsewhere, but these appear to have been covered up as it were and the frame now looks just dandy. But do have a look at the photos. The glass has a couple of minor scratches, and the back has been retapes and is a bit loose. It does ha e string for hanging but unlikely the original.
The frame is a lovely carved wood/gesso covered black frame with a wooden printed finish on the inner frame, making it two toned. It is simply lovely and from 1920s too.
Super picture and frame. Great for Meccano enthusiasts or indeed anyone with an interest in memorabilia and great frames!
