This is a vintage freestanding oak cheval mirror with integrated side shelving, likely dating from the 1920s or 1930s. It carries a distinctly Art Deco character and aesthetic.

Crafted from solid oak, this is a high-quality piece with a heavy, stable structure, and features a distressed black chalk-painted finish. The black paint has worn naturally (or perhaps intentionally distressed), revealing warm oak tones and a hint of gold beneath, adding to its unique patina and vintage charm.

The mirror itself is full-length with bevelled edges and subtly chamfered corners, set within a pivoting frame that allows you to tilt the angle. The mirror is backed with a thick oak veneer panel, providing both visual weight and structural strength. It stands on a deep plinth-style base with block step feet—substantial and stable enough for a hallway or bedroom corner.

Due to natural ageing and the movement of oak over time, the right upright support has slightly shifted forward. This results in the mirror sitting at a very slight skew. It’s not immediately noticeable but is worth noting; I’ve attempted to show this in the photos, so please do take a close look.

The mirror glass itself is well preserved, with only minor age-related wear. There is some black spotting to the left-hand side and a small area of foxing at the top—typical of antique mirrors, especially those not fully framed or protected from environmental changes. Considering its age, the mirror remains in very good condition overall.

This will cost us between £60-80 to deliver, so if you wish collect from Lewes in East Sussex we will refund the saved courier charges.
The couriers will arrange a day and time window with you.
Delivery is to the front door. Should the item be large the courier will need a hand your end or contact us and we will arrange a more expensive two man delivery.
It will take about 2 weeks.
