Superb and Complete Vintage Victorian Brass Coal Scuttle Bin With Brass Shovel
This is about as good as a brass coal scuttle as you will find. I have left it in the slightly muted gold colour because I know a lot of people prefer fire accessories to be in an age worn condition as it is both very stylish these days and also has the added advantage of not needing to clean it!
It sits on lovely hardwood turned bun feet.
I will not wax lyrical too much about the look of it as there are plenty of images. I would say it is not too fussy to look at except the very pretty handle which is very much in keeping with today's fashions of contemporary straight lines, and furnishings not being too obtrusive.
The inner lining comes out and as with nearly all linings you find in coal scuttles it has perished a little to the underside from rust and this is being covered in a fresh lining of metal so it is perfectly fit for purpose.
There are a few very minor surface marks, but on the whole the condition is very good.

Along with the excellent quality of the coal scuttle the original and well fitting shovel is beautiful in itself with the turned hardwood handle which has a dark finish to it. There are some surface signs of wear to the brass but no dents.
